Wax Thief BioWax Thief is garage project by Melbourne/ Naarm local, Sydney/ Eora raised producer Tom. Wax Thief was born out of the long covid lockdowns of Melbourne, where like many producers, Tom fell in love with garage as the UK Garage revival started to shine a new light on the genre. Tom had been producing a range of house music genres for nearly a decade at that point, but garage was the first time he really felt a sound and it's culture around it, resonate with him.Wax Thief's productions are heavily inspired by the original UKG and Speed Garage sounds of the mid to late 90s and the infectious club hits of the 2000s bassline house scene. His name is a homage to his love for collecting and playing vinyl, often sampling straight off his collection in an attempt to find the rarest samples.Since his arrival in the scene it has been a whirlwind for Wax Thief, with his 2024 break out track, Top Killa, gaining nearly half a million streams across platforms and support by some of dance music’s biggest DJs including Interplanetary Criminal and Sammy Virji at Park Life’s main stage, Job Jobse at Dekmantel, Dj Seinfeld at Lost Sundays, Yung Singh at Boomtown, Benwal at Intercell x ADE and local legends like Bella Claxton at A3, to name just a few. Since the release of Top Killa, Wax Thief has continued to go from strength to strength with releases on labelssuch as In The House Records gaining plays from Malugi for his Resident Advisor mix, WATTAH released on UK label Pressure records receiving plays from Marco Carola and Michael Bibi at Pacha Ibiza and unreleased tracks seeing plays from Ollie Lishman, X Club, Prozak, TS7, Bullet Tooth, Silva Bumpa and more. Wax Thief is also making waves as a DJ across Australia’s largest clubs, playing headline and co-headline shows at venues such as Therapy in Perth, Glamorama in Melbourne, Electric Circus in Adelaide and Chinese Laundry in Sydney, as well as collaborating with promoters such as Home Bass, Slack Sound System, Bubble UKG, Taste Club and Novel.Wax Thief is also quickly becoming to go-to local support for UKG’s biggest international acts, playing alongside artists such as Dr Dubplate, Bushbaby, Auramatic, Skeptic, N4tee, Gemi and DJ Q, as well as local artists such as Osmosis Jones and Isgwan. 2026 will be a breakthrough year for Wax Thief who played his debut festival set at Revolve Festival and will take to the UK and Europe over Summer for his debut international tour.
